Pureit Mineral RO (Reverse Osmosis) + UV (Ultra Violet) Review: Pureit have recently launched a new series of “Mineral” water purifiers that add minerals post purification to enhance the taste of water. Pureit have also improvised the water purifiers with water flow rate, design changes and better indicators. I’ve had a chance to get my hands on the Pureit Mineral RO+UV water purifier and here’s my honest review.

Build: Pureit Mineral RO+UV water purifier is built with food grade, non-toxic, engineering grade plastics. Such plastic is considered nontoxic and BPA free, this keeps the water bacteria free even when stored for longer duration. Germ kill kit and other materials on the water purifier are made with the same raw materials. The device weighs a little over 7 kg’s, thanks to the compact design and high quality materials used. The device measures 297 (H) X 199 (W) X 435 (D) mm in dimensions and is only suitable to be wall mounted. Pureit has equipped the highly rated break resistant and leak proof that feels sturdy to use. Outer body is ergonomically built, but, the installation design may not be liked by everyone as the pre-filter is not built in the water purifier and has to be installed externally, which can mess up your modular kitchen. I like the advanced voltage fluctuation guard on the water purifier, the device is equipped to handle voltages between 165 to 280 V a.c which avoids the use of an additional stabilizer.

Technology: Pureit Mineral RO+UV water purifier has an advanced 6 stage purification technology, very similar to many RO water purifiers.

  1. Pre-sediment filter: Removes fine and coarse particulate impurities/dirt and improves the life of the carbon filter.
  2. Pre-RO carbon filter: Removes chlorine and organic impurities like harmful pesticides. It also adsorbs bad taste and odour causing organic compounds from water.
  3. Mini Filter:Filters water further to ensure removal of ner particulate impurities, this is new in the “mineral’ series.
  4. RO Membrane: Removes dissolved salts, hardness, pesticides and heavy metals like arsenic, lead and mercury. It also removes microbial contaminants like bacteria, virus, protozoa and cysts.
  5. UV (Ultra Violet) chamber: UV chamber added post-RO, which ensures that the water is purified not once, but twice.
  6. Post-RO carbon filter: Last level of purification acts as a polisher and enhances the taste of purified water.

Water flow rate has improved to 10 to 12 liters per hour. The water purifier can handle TDS up to 1800 mg/liter and water hardness up to 500 mg/liter this enables the device to handle bore water too.

Water Mineralizer: One of the biggest drawbacks of RO technology is that it sucks up the good minerals along with the contaminants from water, this is one of the reasons on why water tastes bland. Pureit Mineral RO+UV claims to add minerals post water purification, this sounds really great, but, where do the minerals come from? Ideally, minerals are to be added post water purification, hence, they should be somewhere in the Germ Kill Kit and they need to be replaced as and when water is filtered. But, no where on the Pureit website or the product manual states the process of water mineralization. Is this a marketing trick? My calls to Pureit went unanswered, I shall update this page once I hear from Pureit.

An eye appealing design with excellent ergonomics

  • Break Resistant Tap

Taps are tested upto 50,000 times to ensure that it lasts long

  • GermKill Kit

Best in class purification and filter life

  • External Pre-filter

The pre-filter has to be installed externally on the wall and is not built into the water purifier

  • High Maintenance

Germ Kill kits are great but expensive

  • Inaccurate Mineralization

No clear information on the water mineralization process

Design: Pureit Mineral RO+UV is ergonomically designed with neat and elegant finishes. The small water tank of 6 liters has contributed to the compact design of the water purifier. However, I did not like the pre-sediment filter being out of the water purifier, this certainly makes the wall look messy with another object nailed to it. The intuitive design makes the water purifier easy to use.

Pureit have equipped the water purifier with 3 statuses on 2 indicators, tank indicator glows green only if the tank is full and change SF/GKK blinks blue when the filter is almost done with its life span, GKK blinks red on replacement.

Service & Price: Pureit is the best rated water purifier brand for after sales service, with extensive service network spread over 1300 service centers and easy easy to reach contact services. The The best in class GermKill Kit can filter more than 8000 liters of water, this also reduces the cost of maintenance. Pureit Mineral RO+UV was launched at a price of ₹ 13,000.00 and now is retailing at ₹ 12,500.00.

Conclusion: Pureit Mineral series of water purifiers is an improvised version from their classic and advanced series. Pureit Mineral RO+UV is a better version of classic and advanced models, simple & intuitive design, 6 stage water purification with RO+UV technology, great service network, long filter lifespan are the key attributes to the success of Pureit Mineral RO+UV, but, the feature of adding minerals post water purification is still a mystery that Pureit needs to explain.
