Honeywell Air Touch Air Purifier Review: Honeywell Air Touch is the latest entry to the growing air purifier market and is pitted against the Philips air cleaner AC3256. Let’s cut through the features and specs to see what Honeywell Air Touch has on the cards.
Design: Honeywell Air Touch is a tall and handsome device with excellent finishes, the moulded design ensures there are no sharp edges. The 9 kg device can be easily moved around with the anti-slip handle located at the back. Air touch is offered in classic white and champagne gold colors, the colors look really rich, thanks to the UV coating on the device, I personally like the classic white color. The wedge at the bottom is thoughtfully designed, you can wrap around the wire to prevent any clutter, even when the device is plugged in.
LED indicators, air outlet and the touch control panel are ergonomically located on top of the device, I really could not understand on why Honeywell chose to have the air quality indicators on top of the device as it is not easily visible if you are sitting at a distance from the air purifier. Could it be to have a clutter free design?. Installation of filters are really easy, thanks to its draw-type rear door to place the filters. The control panel located on top of the device is neatly laid out without any bumpy buttons and is very easy to read and use.
Technology: Honeywell Air Touch is equipped with a pre filter, Honeywell patented HiSiv filter and the HEPA air filter, the mystery word HEPA which stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. Glass fibers are used to make HEPA filters and their unique configuration makes sure that large contaminants such as mold, dust and allergens are captured. HEPA filters can collect 99.9% of airborne impurities that are larger than 0.3 microns diameter. It is important to know that HEPA filters do not deal with nasty smells or odors. Honeywell Air Touch is equipped 3 stage air purification system, a pre filter, a HEPA filter and a HiSiv filter which is basically a carbon filter. The pre filter helps to filter larger airborne impurities and improves the life of HEPA filter, the carbon filter to remove odors or gases and the HEPA to remove PM2.5 (Particles less than or equal to 10 micrometers in diameter, in simple terms, these are particles less than the width of human hair).
The touch control panel responsiveness is really impressive, to increase the fan speed, you just need to swipe your finger across, similar to your smartphone. I also like the 3 exclusive indicators for each filter so that you exactly know which filter to replace. In most cases, the life of HEPA and Carbon end at the same time. The large air suction channel on the side ensures optimum air suction and high efficiency in the operating environment. Sensors in the air purifier cuts off the power if the device falls flat, this is a nice feature if you have pets at home.

3 stage air purification
Performance: Honeywell Air Touch has an impressive Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 300 m3/h and covers over 450 sq.ft., the device is ideal for large living rooms, bedrooms or even a studio apartment. The auto mode is handy as the air purifier takes control of itself calibrates the air quality around you and adjust the fan speed accordingly. The night mode operation is very silent and hardly any noise is noticeable given the size of the air purifier. The noise levels get louder at higher fan speeds, this is expected with a CADR of 300 m3/h.
Customers have noticed inconsistent operation of the device is different cities, this is not at fault with the air purifier but due to climatic conditions. Weather in Mumbai is humid when compared to Delhi, humid weather causes moisture on the sensors making it inconsistent by indicating poor air quality even though the air quality is actually good. Constant cleaning of moisture with a dry cloth is required for the device to show accurate results.
Honeywell Air Touch is pitted against the Philips AC3256, both are in the same price range, great technology and build quality. However, Philips AC3256 wins our vote for its class leading CADR of 367 m3/h. Honeywell runs with lesser noise when compared to the Philips AC3256, this is because of the lower CADR of 300 m2/h.
Maintenance: Honeywell claims the filter life of 3000 hours, which can last approximately 10 months on regular usage, this can vary depending on the air quality around you too. HEPA filters will need to be replaced on the end of its lifetime and the air purifier will stop functioning if the filters are not replaced in 14 days. The HiSiv Carbon filter costs approximately ₹ 2995 + and the HEPA filter around ₹ 3595. Air purifier is delivered with a 1 year service guarantee for any faulty parts.

Conclusion: Honeywell Air Touch is a thoughtfully designed, well built air purifier with impressive features and great technology. An in-built humidifier in the device would have been great at this price point. The filters have a great life span and they are expensive to be replaced. However, if you are looking for a good air purifier for a large house (3 bedroom), Honeywell Air Touch is an ideal choice for its great technology, impressive CADR and high quality filters. Honeywell Air Touch air purifier is retailing at ₹ 25,990.00 and is available on Amazon from ₹ 19,000.00.
Update on 10/30/17 – Honeywell has reduced the price from ₹ 38,000 to ₹ 25,990.
