Gliese Compact Air Purifier Review: Gliese Compact Air Purifier is one of the newest portable air purifiers in the market. We have got our hands on the air purifier and here’s what on offer.
Design: Gliese Compact air purifier is a true compact device with just than 11 inches tall and 12 inches wide, it weighs less than 2.5 kg’s making it really handy to carry around the place. The small handle on the device is well placed too. However, the quality of plastic used in construction of the device feels really cheap. Given the price point of Rs. 5000, you get what you pay for and it is not fair to expect ABS plastic or high grade material body construction. The air purifier is equipped with 2 buttons to control the device, one to power on or off and the other to control the fan speeds.
Technology: Gliese Compact air purifier is equipped with an unique 4 stage air purification technology.
Stage 1 – Pre-filter traps larger dust particles and other air pollutants in order to protect the HEPA filter from dirt and ensures longer life. Pre-filter needs to be replaced every 3 to 4 months.
Stage 2 – HEPA filter traps all kinds of viruses, bacteria, dust particles, pollen etc.
Stage 3 – Carbon filter absorbs bad odor or any smelly gases.
Stage 4 – Ionizer emits negatively charged ions that neutralizes the positively charged ions from TV’s or other electronic devices.
We do not recommend ionizing devices if you are prone to allergens or asthma, ion emitting devices are harmful and most premium air purifiers are not equipped with ionizers.
360 degree purification
Compact and easy to move around
Triple speed function
Fast and easy distribution of air
Noise level: <55 dB
Air flow volume: 130 m3/h
Coverage area: 40 m2
Weight: <2.5 kg
Performance: Gliese Compact air purifier test results are good with numbers of 130 m3/h for cigarette smoke, the applicable area for the air purifier is impressively over 40 m2, which is on par when compared to other premium air purifiers. The device also holds impressive test results of over 99% on purifying PM2.5 articles. In slow fan speed mode, the unit is silent at sound levels of 34dB, however, it gets a little noisy over 55 dB at higher fan speeds.
Maintenance: Pre filter of Gliese Compact air purifier can be washed or vacuumed. The composite filter (HEPA + Carbon) costs around Rs 1,490.00 for replacements.
Conclusion: Gliese Compact air purifier is a simple device that does its job without any bells or whistles and aggressive pricing works in its favor. However, cheap build quality and high noise levels may turn down a few people and this may not be a deal breaker for the majority looking for an air purifier at this price range (below Rs. 5,000). If you can stretch your budget further, I would highly recommend Philips AC1215, the entry HEPA air purifier from Philips available on Amazon from Rs. 9,450.00
